Teachers

Among the amenities of the new school facilities are three Learning Center clusters that include two flexible classrooms per cluster, small meeting rooms and dedicated office/touchdown space for teachers and instructional specialists.  Teachers will have access to multiple teacher collaboration spaces and meeting rooms containing collaborative workshop space as well as a centralized break room to increase teacher interaction across grade levels.  Three science-ready classrooms for grades 6-8 will be provided. These have been designed with extensive teacher input.

Dedicated science prep rooms will serve the classrooms and there will be special science teaching benches and increased mechanical ventilation. The K-1 classrooms will have dedicated restrooms so that kindergarten and first grade students will not have to leave the classroom environment to use a restroom. This will allow increased teacher instruction time and these students will not need to mix with older students during class time.

Teachers will have access to many practical enhancements that will be incorporated in the new facility. One of the more exciting features will be a robust and dependable wireless technology infrastructure. The goal is to have all students wired -- whether via desktops, laptops, iPads or smartphones. This will be the first time that students and teachers will have such extensive access to the Internet.

Currently there are computer labs at each separate school site, so this will be a completely new state-of-the-art facility that will serve all the schools with improved technology.

Most importantly, co-location of the schools allows more opportunity for teacher collaboration among K-12 teachers on subject matter and collaboration among teams focused on students.

Ongoing community input is needed as we identify and agree upon how to broaden specific services that are within prudent budget expectations. The Community will decide how to make good use of facility investment.
