When the Emeryville Center of Community Life opens in late 2015, it will feature a health and wellness center designed to offer services to both students and the general community of Emeryville.

The partnership between the City of Emeryville and Emery Unified School District that initiated the Emeryville Center of Community Life (ECCL) anticipated a city/school collaboration to enhance community life as well as academic performance.
Research by educators, urban planners and architects shows that community needs are best met when schools become hubs of civic and educational activity. Experience also indicates that state-of-the-art facilities and welcoming environments enhance learning.

Co-location of K-12 education facilities and expanded school site functions to meet community needs is the best use of public resources and funds. It just makes economic sense.
